First GigFor some reason (to my advantage) finding a suitable drummer just wasn't happening. So, my dad turned to me and said "Hey Joe, you wanna do the gig with me?" I said "sure!" and we picked up a set of drums out of a local paper, brought them to the club, and set them up for the gig.
The 8 week gig went very well. Charlie went back on the road with his band, but dad and I stayed together. The "Father and Son" thing seemed to go over pretty good, and we got other gigs lined up!
Joe Bucci Trio
Here's the
Trio as it was when we recorded the "Joe Bucci Live" and the "Round Midnight
Blue" albums. During that time, we went on the "Today" show (At that time it was
a local show hosted by John Wilis and Janet Langhart), an entertainment/talk
show broadcast out of Boston's channel 5.
When Charlie Harris left the band, dad decided to go with a female singer. I had begun to sing quite a few of the "Standards", as well as some of the more popular, newer songs of the 70's. But, we needed someone who could cover the "Girl" tunes that were popular. So, in came Martha Maxwell. The lovely, talented, and vivatious Martha Maxwell!
She was the perfect addition to the group! A great voice, and looks to match!
Check out those outfits eh!! - Real 70's!
Joe Bucci Now!
Dad still
takes a gig now and then. Only now, he does them on accordion. As mentioned
elsewhere on the site, it's his first instrument. He LOVES the accoustic sound
he uses now. And he plays like you would not believe!
